Book It Forward

Posted on: October 3rd, 2016

If there is one thing that kids love more than books, it's new and different books that they haven't seen before! With that in mind, we're starting a program here at Robertson to get books moving off dusty shelves and into the eager hands of children. If you have any books at home that aren't being used anymore, please feel free to bring them in and donate them at your classroom or at the office. They don't have to be in perfect shape, just clean. Our intermediate volunteers will organize them, give them a Book-it-Forward sticker and shelve them. Once they are ready, books can be chosen and taken home by kids and families: no late fees, no limits, no strings attached. They're yours! When you are done with your books, just pass them on to another reader or re-donate them to the school.

Mr. Lodders' class started this program in 2014 and it has been a HUGE success so far. Thousands of books have been donated and have been passed on to deserving kids! We are very excited to extend this program to the whole school and maybe one day this program will become part of our community culture here is Chilliwack! Imagine the benefits of an unlimited stream of free, new, exciting reading material in the homes of our young readers!
